The economy was really bad and it will continue to be as bad as this until about the 1945 is when it would have been fully recovered.

Employment was also a rare thing to witness back in them days during the depression. Apples were sold for about 5 cents money was a rare thing to also have. the economy was so low that the Dow Jones was only about 45.55. That was a really dangerous number to be at. All the banks pretty much failed and millions of dollars was lost and impossible to get back. It was from people buying from the margin which means that people borrowed money from the bank to buy things. After the banks failed people lost all the money that they had in the bank, which meant they could not pay the bank back when the stock market had crashed so that really had a bad effect on the economy.
